  [Full list] NUC names 67 illegal universities in Nigeria The National Universities Commission (NUC) has published a list of 67 illegal universities in Nigeria.  The Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed signed a public notice on the NUC website. The names include those who claim to be affiliates of foreign universities in the country. In the list below, institutions that have ‘other campuses’ are indicated with “others”; those ‘operating anywhere in Nigeria’ have “anywhere” as suffix. 1. The Chairman of the Judicial Panel of Inquiry on police brutality, extra-judicial killings and Human Rights Violations in Ebonyi State, Alloy Nwankwo, on Thursday, said the panel had recommended the payment of N189 million to victims of extra-judicial killings in the state. Mr Nwankwor, a retired judge, disclosed this in an interview with reporters in Abakaliki. He said the panel in Ebonyi State received a total of 71 petitions, since it was set up on October 20, 2020. He said of the 71 petitions received by the panel, 51 were determined, while 20 were struck out for want of diligent prosecution. Umahi, who is the Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, made it clear that Ebonyi won’t pursue VAT collection or implement the decision of the Forum made at a meeting in Enugu on Thursday.
